Use Cases
Free Tier
Free for life: 15 uptime monitors + 15 server monitors, 1-minute checks, 4 monitoring locations, unlimited uptime reports.
How to Maximize the Free Tier
The free tier covers 15 uptime monitors and 15 server monitors with 1-minute check intervals — more generous than most competitors. Set up public status pages (unlimited on free) to share uptime with clients. Use the 1,000 API calls/month to integrate with your scripts. Watch the activity log retention (15 days on free) and note that phone/SMS alerts require a paid plan. Use email, Slack, Discord, or Telegram for free notifications. Organize monitors with tags for easy management across client projects.
Getting Started
1) Register at hetrixtools.com (no credit card required). 2) Go to Uptime Monitors and click Add Monitor. 3) Enter the URL or IP, select check type (HTTP, TCP, etc.), and choose interval (1 min on free). 4) Set up contact lists for alerts under Contacts. 5) Configure notification channels (email, Slack, Discord, Telegram). 6) Create a public status page under Status Pages. 7) Monitor your dashboard for real-time status and uptime reports.
Pros
- Generous free tier: 15 uptime + 15 server monitors with 1-minute checks — more monitors and faster checks than most free plans.
- Status pages: Unlimited public status pages on the free tier, great for client transparency.
- Multi-channel alerts: Supports email, Slack, Discord, Telegram, PagerDuty, and webhooks at no cost.
Cons
- Dated interface: The UI feels dated compared to modern SaaS monitoring tools and has a learning curve.
- Limited retention: Activity log retention is only 15 days on the free plan — upgrade needed for historical analysis.
- No phone/SMS on free: Phone call and SMS notifications require a paid plan with credit purchases.
